LeBron James Reacts to Video Calling Him 'Non-Factor' Next Season amid Latest NBA Free Agency Rumors
LeBron James reacted with a long series of laughing face emojis in response to remarks from Chris Brockman of the Rich Eisen Show, who predicted that the free agent would be a "non-factor" this upcoming season.
"If he goes to Miami, enjoy the play-in tournament," the co-host and senior producer said about James and the Heat, who are one of five teams reportedly in the mix for the four-time MVP's services, per ESPN's Shams Charania.
Brockman got some pushback on that idea before adding: "'Bron's gonna be a non-factor this season. I think everyone needs to like, ready themselves."
James, who turns 42 years old on Dec. 30, just averaged 20.9 points on 51.5 percent shooting, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds in 33.2 minutes last season.
He was arguably at his best in the first round of the playoffs against the Houston Rockets, when he led a short-handed Lakers team missing top scorers Luka Dončić (for the entire matchup) and Austin Reaves (for Games 1-4) to a 4-2 series victory.
So James certainly showed that he's still got something left in the tank despite being in his 40s and well into the third decade of his career.
In theory, given his age and mileage (1,924 total games including playoffs), James could take a step back in 2026-27. That being said, he was productive last year and an asset for a 53-win Lakers team which made the second round of the playoffs.
In addition, James' future team would receive massive value if rumors are true and he's willing to take a minimum deal, as ESPN's Shams Charania noted.
The veteran minimum for James would be $3.9 million, a huge steal after he made $52.6 million the year before.
We could see what team James decides soon enough. NBA insider Chris Haynes reported, via James' agent and Klutch Sports founder/CEO Rich Paul, that he has all the information he needs to make a call.
So now the waiting game continues as James decides his next chapter. And from there, the speculation truly begins about how James fit into his new team and where he can help take them.
