5 Most Improved Offenses Ahead of 2026 NFL Training Camp

Moe MotonJul 13, 2026

In today's NFL, there aren't many low-scoring slugfests. We rarely see two teams finish a game with single digits on the scoreboard.

Over the past few years, wide receivers have become premium players, and an increasing number of pass-catching running backs and tight ends are entering the league. To be a serious contender, teams must be able to score in a variety of ways.

So, let's put the spotlight on the five most improved offenses this offseason.

To focus on units that can make the biggest leaps, this short list excludes teams that finished within the top 10 in scoring or total yards last season. We also added key additions who could be strong contributors to the club's offensive strides.

Las Vegas Raiders

Key additions: QB Kirk Cousins, QB Fernando Mendoza, WR Jalen Nailor, C Tyler Linderbaum, G Spencer Burford

The Las Vegas Raiders offense can't be worse than last year's unit, which finished with the fewest points and yards.

Nonetheless, the Raiders should also see significant improvement on that side of the ball under new head coach Klint Kubiak, who called plays for the Seattle Seahawks' third-ranked scoring offense last season.

According to ESPN's Ryan McFadden, Cousins is expected to start over Mendoza, the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft, which should be considered a positive for immediate improvement.

In his last four starts, Cousins threw for 876 yards, seven touchdowns and just two interceptions while leading the Atlanta Falcons to four consecutive wins.

To help Cousins and eventually Mendoza, the Raiders added Linderbaum, a three-time Pro Bowl center, and Burford, who's familiar with Kubiak from his time with the San Francisco 49ers. If Burford earns the left guard job, lining up between Kolton Miller and Linderbaum could help him raise his level of play.

Las Vegas signed Nailor to a three-year, $35 million deal, an underrated move that could be viewed as a steal in hindsight. In Minnesota, he served as the No. 3 receiver behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. The 27-year-old could lead the Raiders' wide receiver corps in catches and receiving yards as a big-play complement to tight end Brock Bowers.

In a limited role, Nailor has averaged 15.4 yards per catch. If he commands a high number of targets, expect him to rack up career-high numbers by midseason.

Las Vegas may not be a playoff contender, but its offense will put defenders on their heels this year.

Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings upgraded their offense at the most important position. After the Arizona Cardinals released Murray, the Vikings signed him to a modest one-year, $1.3 million deal. He'll likely start over J.J. McCarthy.

According to ESPN's Kevin Seifert, the gap between Murray and McCarthy at organized team activities (OTAs) "was not even close," favoring the former.

Last season, McCarthy threw for 1,632 yards, 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions with a 57.6 percent completion rate. The Athletic's Alec Lewis reported that head coach Kevin O'Connell removed over-the-middle passing concepts to simplify the signal-caller's progression reads. Yet the Vikings still didn't get much production out of the aerial attack.

Although Murray underperformed in Arizona over the last few years, he could see a career resurgence under O'Connell, who has called plays for a top-six passing offense in three of his four years with the Vikings. The 28-year-old signal-caller needs to stay healthy, though.

Murray joined a team with a solid wide receiver duo in two-time All-Pro Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. Minnesota signed Jennings, who caught 55 passes for 643 yards and a career-high nine touchdowns last season with the San Francisco 49ers.

The Vikings will have a new dynamic starting quarterback and one of the league's best receiver trios this year. Expect this offense to rack up points as one of the top 10 scoring units.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints could see significant growth in second-year quarterback Tyler Shough thanks to their offseason additions.

The Saints signed Etienne and Edwards to balance their offense. Both will be key cogs in a much-improved ground attack that averaged the second-fewest yards per rush attempt (3.7) and ranked 28th in yards last season.

As an offensive play-caller, head coach Kellen Moore has fielded a top-nine rushing offense in three of the previous five years. Etienne could post a career-high rushing total in the upcoming season. On a four-year, $48 million deal, he'll handle the lion's share of touches out of the backfield, regardless of what happens with Alvin Kamara's unsettled situation with the team.

Tyson and Lance can provide explosive plays in the passing game. The former averaged 14.4 yards per reception through four collegiate terms. The latter averaged 21.2 yards per catch in his last collegiate year at North Dakota State.

Moore can add more wrinkles to the Saints' passing attack with Juwan Johnson, Fant and Delp in multi-tight-end sets.

The Saints may field the most evolved offense because of added talent across multiple positions, coupled with Shough's development.

Tennessee Titans

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Carnell Tate

Key additions: RB Nicholas Singleton, WR Carnell Tate, WR Wan'Dale Robinson, C Austin Schlottmann, C Andre James, G Cordell Volson, TE Daniel Bellinger

Aside from the Las Vegas Raiders, the Tennessee Titans fielded the worst wide receiver group last season. They adequately addressed that position this offseason.

The Titans signed Robinson, who knows offensive coordinator Brian Daboll's system and selected Tate with the No. 4 overall pick in the draft.

Robinson is coming off his most productive pro season, hauling in 92 passes for a career-high 1,014 yards and four touchdowns. Because of his familiarity with the offense, he could top those numbers and lead the Titans' passing attack.

That said, Tate's sure hands and ability to attack all three levels of the field could allow him to contend for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. He's already drawn praise from quarterback Cam Ward, which is a good sign for their chemistry.

Tennessee may have two new starting interior offensive linemen. Like Robinson, Schlottmann knows Daboll's offense from his time with the New York Giants. In 2025, he played well in a small sample size. According to Pro Football Focus, the 30-year-old didn't give up a sack over 212 pass-blocking snaps. James has valuable experience at center with 61 career starts.

After missing the entire 2025 campaign because of a shoulder injury, Volson will have an opportunity to fill a void at right guard. He's started in 48 games over three seasons.

If the Titans can build leads, they could employ Singleton to work the clock late in games. He's a physical 6'0", 219-pounder who can carve out a role behind Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears.

Washington Commanders

Key additions: RB Rachaad White, WR Antonio Williams, TE Chig Okonkwo

If the Washington Commanders offense makes a leap from 22nd in scoring and total yards to a top unit in 2026, most would expect it's because Jayden Daniels stays healthy throughout most of the season.

While Daniels' availability is crucial, Washington also added a couple of safety blankets for him in a new offense under first-time play-caller David Blough.

The Commanders haven't re-signed tight end Zach Ertz, who's recovering from a torn ACL, but they have a much younger replacement in Okonkwo, who has breakout potential.

ESPN's John Keim expects tight ends to be more involved in the passing game under Blough, which bodes well for Okonkwo. Last season with the Tennessee Titans, he finished with 56 receptions for 560 yards and two touchdowns, his most productive pro campaign.

In college at Arizona State, White played with Daniels between 2020 and 2021. In the latter term, he caught 43 passes for 456 yards and a touchdown. They have a rapport, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see the pass-catching running back rank among the team's leaders in targets and receptions.

If the Commanders don't sign a veteran wideout, Williams could be a solid rookie contributor out of the slot. He was a consistent playmaker for most of his four years at Clemson and can quickly earn Daniels' trust in an offense that needs a reliable No. 2 receiver.
