Moses Moody 'Hasn't Heard' from Warriors amid NBA Rumors on Trade, LeBron, Anthony Davis

Fifth-year guard Moses Moody is trying to maintain some distance between himself and the ongoing speculation surrounding the Golden State Warriors.

The Athletic's Marcus Thompson II reported Saturday that Moody "hasn't heard from the Warriors" and "has largely avoided the rampant dialogue about Warriors moves."

Moody told Thompson he has reached out to agent Rich Paul for periodic updates.

"I'm curious, so I had some conversations just trying to figure out what's going on," he said. "But I don't call Rich every day. I'm not in it like that because I ain't got nothing to do with how it's gonna go down. So I'm more so just watching. … Whenever something needs to be talked about is when it will."

Thompson noted that "the Warriors love Moody," but that may not preclude them from trading him to get a star who improves their odds of winning a title next year.

Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor first reported in late June that Golden State had thrown around the idea of acquiring Anthony Davis on top of signing LeBron James this summer.

That plan appears to have died on the vine.

Still, the possibility of the Warriors dealing Moody lingers because they don't have much else in the way of trade assets.

The 24-year-old is coming off a solid 2025-26 season. He averaged a career-high 12.1 points per game and shot a personal best 40.1 percent from beyond the arc. He may not be a star, but he's a useful player who's still improving.

Moody's three-year, $37.5 million extension is looking like very good value as well.

He's still recovering from a torn patellar tendon, with Thompson writing he hasn't progressed to working out on the court yet. Still, the Warriors can probably find a suitor for Moody if they wanted to create some cap space or address a different area of the squad.

The tough part for the player is that this is going to remain true once opening night arrives. The end of the offseason may not bring much reprieve. All the way up to the 2027 deadline, the specter of a trade could hang in the background.

Moody's mindset will undoubtedly help him keep his focus on what's important.
