Giannis to Wear No. 7 🌴
According to Spotrac, the Pistons have $209.5 million in total cap allocations, while the Bucks have $194.8 million.
Here is a look at what the depth charts could look like following the move:
Pistons
PG: Cade Cunningham, Daniss Jenkins, Marcus Sasser
SG: Duncan Robinson, Isaiah Joe
SF: Taurean Prince, Gary Harris
PF: Ausar Thompson, Ron Holland
C: Isaiah Stewart II, Paul Reed Jr.
Bucks
PG: Kevin Porter Jr., Ryan Rollins, A.J. Green
SG: Tyler Herro, Caris LeVert
SF: Jaime Jaquez Jr.
PF: Kyle Kuzma
C: Myles Turner, Kel'el Ware, Jericho Sims
Frankly, the Bucks are not expected to be realistic contenders this season after they traded Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat.
They added more draft picks in this deal, which follows since they are surely eyeing the future with their moves and roster construction. If nothing else, they may have a bit more flexibility to make future moves even with the addition of LeVert.
As for the Pistons, they are in win-now mode after finishing with the best record in the Eastern Conference last season before losing in the second round of the playoffs to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
LeVert was nothing more than a role player for that team, which was his first and only season in Detroit. He averaged 7.4 points and 2.7 assists in 60 games with zero starts, which stood in stark contrast to his prior eight seasons when he averaged double-digit scoring totals.
His highest mark came during the 2020-21 campaign when he averaged 20.2 points a night for the Brooklyn Nets and Indiana Pacers. A return to higher scoring numbers on a Bucks team lacking elite talent would be anything but surprising, especially since he will likely receive more playing time.
The Pistons landed two role players for one with Prince and Harris joining the fold, which gives them more options to mix and match their lineup depending on the opposition.
Both players can hit from the outside with Harris connecting on 41.2 percent of his three-pointers last season and Prince knocking down 43.6 percent of his attempts. That type of shooting will play well alongside Cade Cunningham, who creates open looks for his teammates by drawing additional defenders his way.
If Prince and Harris continue to knock down better than 40 percent of their three-pointers next season, LeVert will be a distant memory in Detroit.
