Andre Drummond Reacts to Replacing Mitchell Robinson After Mysterious Post About Knicks Exit
After losing star center Mitchell Robinson to the Boston Celtics in free agency, the reigning NBA champion New York Knicks pivoted by signing veteran Andre Drummond.
After agreeing to a reported one-year, $3.9 million deal on Friday, Drummond spoke to YouTube streamer Mika Ortiz about what brought him to the Knicks.
"I think this is what they need right now. Getting rid of Mitchell Robinson was a huge loss for them," Drummond said on Saturday. "I bring in a similar talent, similar energy, but I'm a veteran. I've been around for a long time, I know what it takes to win. So, I'm excited to be in a new role in a new city and going back to a place I'm familiar with."

Drummond to Sign with Knicks

Sneaky NBA Free Agency Signings 😏
Born in Mount Vernon, NY, Drummond was the No. 9 pick in the 2012 NBA draft. The two-time All-Star has suited up for six different teams, most recently spending the past two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Drummond should be a viable replacement for Robinson, who agreed to a three-year, $47.4 million deal with the Celtics. However, Robinson raised some eyebrows when he indicated in an Instagram comment that he didn't want to leave the Knicks.
"I tried brother I didn't want this to happen hopefully the truth comes out at some point," Robinson wrote in response to Knicks forward OG Anunoby's sad face emoji.
Replacing Robinson with Drummond gives the Knicks a reliable rebounder and frontcourt defender as they gear up to try to defend their NBA title in 2026-27.
