The 6'5" Dinwiddie confirmed that he would play for the Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat if called.
Dinwiddie has played 11 NBA seasons (2014-15 to 2024-25) for the Detroit Pistons, Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers.
His best season was 2019-20, when Dinwiddie started 49 of 64 games and averaged 20.6 points, 6.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds per contest. Dinwiddie also finished fourth in the Sixth Man of the Year race in 2018-19.
The 33-year-old last played for the Mavs in 2024-25, averaging 11.0 points on 41.6 percent shooting (33.4 percent from three), 4.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game.
Dinwiddie played for FC Bayern Munich of the Basketball Bundesliga and the EuroLeague last season. He averaged 13.0 points, 3.6 assists and 2.6 rebounds in five Bundesliga games and 11.7 points, 3.6 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 11 EuroLeague contests.
Dinwiddie left the team for the rest of the season before Christmas "due to a serious illness in his family and with the consent of the sporting management," per a statement from the organization.
"I would like to thank the organization, the team, and the fans," Dinwiddie said in a January 4 statement.
"Despite the recent challenging phase of the season, I felt very comfortable in Munich. Unfortunately, I am currently not in a position to play."
Bayern sports director Dragan Tarlac said:
"We thank Spencer for the commitment he gave us. But sometimes other things are more important than sport. Health comes above everything else, and we sincerely hope that everything will turn out well for Spencer and his family in 2026."
Now it appears Dinwiddie is available and ready to return to professional basketball. He's eager to show he has something left and very well could. Dinwiddie was productive in his last NBA season and at least deserves a shot from a team to showcase his talents.
