New NBA Rumors Reveal Bradley Beal, Heat Contract Talks in Free Agency After Giannis Trade
The Miami Heat have an interesting summer ahead of them as they look to add complementary pieces around Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo. One very interesting name could be entering the fray.
According to Barry Jackson and Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, "The Heat have had discussions with the representation for free agent guard Bradley Beal in the first 24 hours of free agency, according to a league source."
Beal, 33, was a three-time All-Star in his prime, though recent years have been marked by injuries. He only played six games for the Los Angeles Clippers last season after suffering a fracture in his left hip. This summer, he declined a $5.6 million player option, opting to hit free agency.
When healthy he remains a solid offensive option, averaging 17 points and 3.7 assists for the Phoenix Suns across 53 games (38 starts) in the 2024-25 season. The Heat would absolutely take that level of production.
Miami's complementary pieces currently include Andrew Wiggins, Nikola Jović, Bobby Portis, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Davion Mitchell, among others. It's not a bad group to surround Giannis and Adebayo, though adding more perimeter scoring would make sense. Beal could help scratch that itch.
The Heat and their fans would probably prefer a different veteran, LeBron James, was added to the roster. They'll have some serious competition in that regard, however.
Either way, if the Heat want to compete in the suddenly stacked Eastern Conference—with Kawhi Leonard to Toronto and Jaylen Brown to Philly in recent days and Tyrese Haliburton returning from injury, the conference has gotten very interesting—more additions will be needed. Beal is a name worth monitoring.
