Now, context is everything. During Jordan's career, the NBA's salary cap ranged from $3.6 million (1984-85) to $40.2 million (2002-03). His initial rookie contract was a seven-year, $6.3 million deal, though the Bulls ultimately voided the final three years and signed him to an eight-year, $25.7 million extension in 1988.
The Bulls then exceeded the salary cap in 1996 to sign him to a one-year, $30.1 million deal (the cap was $24.3 million, but teams could exceed it when re-signing their own players, and there were no max contracts at the time). Jordan would then go on to sign a one-year, $33.1 deal for the 1997-98 season.
Harris, meanwhile, has signed four major deals since his rookie contract—a four-year, $64 million deal with the Orlando Magic; a five-year, $180 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers; a two-year, $52 million deal with the Detroit Pistons; and now his current pact with the Spurs.
It's a lot of money for a player who has never been an All-Star, and a reminder of just how much the economics of the NBA have changed over the past 40 years.
