New Jaylen Brown Trade Rumors on Celtics 'Soliciting Offers' from 8-10 Teams amid NBA Free Agency

Julia StumbaughJul 1, 2026

There are as many as 10 teams potentially interested in trading for Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Wednesday on First Take.

"Sources tell me the Celtics have actually started strongly shopping Jaylen Brown, soliciting offers from a market of about eight to 10 teams in the last several days," Charania reported.

Charania added the Celtics have "asked some teams for at least four first-round picks."

Charania added it has been the Celtics' decision to shop Brown, who has not requested a trade.

The news follows a Tuesday report from The Athletic's Sam Amick in which Amick reported the Celtics had found interest in Brown was "nowhere near the level" the team had hoped.

According to Amick, the Portland Trail Blazers had some interest in Brown but haven't come close to meeting the Celtics' asking price.

He also expressed doubt about previous reports of interest from the Denver Nuggets and Brooklyn Nets.

The Stein Line's Marc Stein and Jake Fischer similarly shot down reports of interest from the Los Angeles Clippers.

HoopsHype's Michael Scotto recently named the Toronto Raptors, Charlotte Hornets and Atlanta Hawks as other teams potentially interested in Brown. NBA insider Chris Mannix named the Cleveland Cavaliers as another possible landing spot.

The Celtics previously offered Brown to the Milwaukee Bucks alongside two first-round picks as part of a package for Giannis Antetokounmpo, per ESPN's Shams Charania. The Bucks ultimately chose to send Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat instead.

That marked the second time the Celtics had offered Brown in exchange for a star player, Charania noted. The team also pitched sending Brown to the Brooklyn Nets as part of a proposed deal for Kevin Durant in 2022.

The Celtics have been making additions to the roster in free agency despite the uncertainty surrounding Brown's future. That includes the addition of veteran point guard Mike Conley and the signing of New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson.

Brown is signed for three more seasons starting with a $57 million cap hit in 2026-27. He is eligible to sign a two-year, $141.9 million extension in July.
