New Jaylen Brown Trade Rumors Update Nuggets, Nets, Blazers Interest Ahead of NBA Free Agency

Julia StumbaughJun 30, 2026

The Boston Celtics have not made much progress with trade talks for Jaylen Brown so far this offseason, The Athletic's Sam Amick reported Tuesday.

According to Amick, overall interest in Brown is "nowhere near the level" the Celtics were hoping for.

Amick reported the Portland Trail Blazers have only "moderate" interest in Brown and have so far offered "nothing close to what the Celtics have been asking for."

Other teams that have been connected to Brown might have even less interest in the Celtics star, according to Amick.

Amick reported the Denver Nuggets "haven't spoken to the Celtics since the weekend and their interest has been significantly overstated," while the Brooklyn Nets "are not engaged with the Celtics at all and don't appear to be heading in that direction."

ESPN's Vincent Goodwill recently named the Los Angeles Clippers as another potential suitor for Brown.

According to Goodwill, that would match the Celtics' preference to trade Brown to the Western Conference.

The Stein Line's Marc Stein and Jake Fischer reported Tuesday the Clippers "aren't planning to make a run" at Brown, and are working on a potential trade that would instead send Kawhi Leonard back to the Toronto Raptors.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported in a Monday appearance on the Rich Eisen Show the Celtics are actively offering Brown in trade proposals to other teams.

The Celtics were previously connected to a potential trade of Brown as part of their pursuit of former Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has since been dealt to the Miami Heat.

Windhorst said the Celtics have since pivoted from trying to trade Brown for a star player like Antetokounmpo to considering deals that involved moving him for draft picks.

"That tells me, No. 1, they're very motivated to trade him, and No. 2, they're a little bit outside their plan," Windhorst said Monday. "Because, again, their plan seems to have changed."

Brown has more than $183 million remaining on a contract that currently runs through the 2028-29 season, per Spotrac. He is eligible for a two-year, $142 million extension this summer, per ESPN's Bobby Marks.

ESPN's Ramona Shelburne recently reported that "league observers said an extension at this point seems unlikely" in Boston.

That leaves the Celtics to decide between either repairing a relationship that may have been damaged by ongoing trade talks or finalizing a deal for Brown despite reportedly underwhelming offers so far this offseason.
