Switzerland vs. Algeria Top Storylines, Odds, Live Stream for World Cup 2026
Switzerland-Algeria certainly isn't at the top of the must-watch list for the 2026 FIFA World Cup knockout round.
However, it has the potential to be a fun game in a part of the bracket that appears to be wide open.
Switzerland earned first place in Group B thanks to a Matchday 3 win over Canada.
The Swiss are well rested and have little travel in their legs after staying in Vancouver following the win over the co-host.
Algeria took third in Group J behind Argentina and Austria. It has the potential to be a frisky underdog because it scored five times in group play.

Switzerland In Search Of Rare Knockout Round Win
2 of 3
Switzerland has become a regular fixture in the knockout round of World Cups in recent years.
The Swiss made it to the round of 16 at four of the last five World Cups, but they were eliminated at that stage each time.
You have to go back to the 1938 World Cup to find a Swiss win in the knockout round.
Switzerland owns the all-around talent advantage in comparison to Algeria.
Granit Xhaka runs the midfield, Breel Embolo is a force up top and Johan Manzambi used the group stage as a coming-out party.
Manzambi is the key to Swiss success in Vancouver. The 20-year-old based at Freiburg in Germany scored three times in the group stage.
Manzambi will more likely than not be involved in any Swiss goals. He has the potential to be the player that carries Switzerland on a deeper-than-expected run in the knockout round.
Algeria Looking to Play Spoiler
3 of 3
Make no mistake about it. Switzerland and its slew of players based in Europe's top-five leagues is the favorite in the match.
Algeria was not played off the field in Group J, though, and it can be a tough out in the round of 32.
Algeria gained plenty of attacking confidence from its 3-3 draw with Austria in which Riyad Mahrez scored twice.
Mahrez, the former Manchester City and Leicester City player, is the game-breaker in the Algerian squad.
Mahrez could deliver a moment or two of magic that puts Algeria on the board against a European side.
Anis Hadj Moussa is also worth keeping an eye. He recorded a double-digit goal tally at Feyenoord last season and could be a quick-strike option if Mahrez is blanketed by defenders.
Algeria won't get blown out, and if delivers a moment or two of quality in the final third, it could pull off the surprise result in Vancouver.
