Everything Cameron Carr Said During Lakers Introductory Press Conference After 2026 NBA Draft Pick
Los Angeles Lakers guard Cameron Carr is looking forward to his rookie season after the team selected him in the first round of the 2026 NBA draft.
Carr said it was a "blessing" to be drafted by the Lakers and confirmed that he was "excited" to get started with the team at his introductory press conference on Friday.
He also described his game as "explosive" and "dominant" when speaking to reporters.
The Lakers traded up to select Carr with the No. 24 overall pick in the draft on Tuesday night.
He's coming off a strong 2025-26 campaign with Baylor, averaging 18.9 points and 5.8 rebounds to go along with 2.6 assists per game. Carr was efficient offensively, shooting 49.4 percent from the field and 37.4 percent from three-point territory while connecting on 80.1 percent of his free throws.
The 21-year-old also made his presence felt on defense by disrupting passing lanes and altering shots at the rim, as his wingspan is listed at just under 7'1".
Carr recorded 1.3 blocks and 0.9 steals per game with the Bears.
He went on to showcase his impressive athleticism at the NBA draft combine, as his 42.5" max vertical ranked No. 2 among all prospects that participated. His lane agility time of 10.46 seconds was also the second-fastest at the combine.
Given Carr's ability to make an impact both on and off the ball while remaining a stout defender, it's easy to envision him earning a consistent role as part of head coach JJ Redick's rotation as a rookie.
