Victor Wembanyama was not the tallest player involved in 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifying action this week.

In fact, the 7-foot-4 Team France star came four inches short of that title.

The honor instead belongs to Egypt's Hamad Abouelrish, who measures in at 7-foot-8 and is the tallest player to ever attend a FIBA global event, according to the organization.

Abouelrish is more than two feet taller than the shortest players involved in the qualifying window.

That title is shared by Japan's Yuki Togashi and Angola's Childe Dundao, both of whom measure in at 5-foot-6, according to FIBA.

Not being the tallest competitor in the qualifying window hasn't slowed down Wembanyama in his bid to help Team France earn a trip to the 2027 FIBA World Cup taking place next September in Qatar.

He most recently went 6-for-7 from the field for 18 points with eight rebounds as France defeated Sweden in Stockholm last Saturday to improve to 7-1 in pool play.
