Group K Standings
- Colombia - 6 points (+3 goal differential)
- Portugal - 4 (+5)
- DR Congo - 1 (-1)
- Uzbekistan - 0 (-7)
Portugal is the clear favorite on the betting lines because of its roster full of top-tier talent and due to the situation it finds itself in.
Colombia doesn't have to win to advance to the knockout round as the Group K winner.
The South American side will be difficult to break down, though, as it conceded once in its first two games against DR Congo and Uzbekistan.
Colombia will try to punch on the counter attack through Bayern Munich's Luis Diaz and Sporting CP's Luis Suarez.
However, the focus will be on defense and slowing down Ronaldo and Co.
Look for center-back Davinson Sanchez, a former Tottenham Hotspur defender, to be the key to containing Portugal's attack.
Sanchez was excellent in containing the counter-attacking threat from DR Congo on Matchday 2.
Portugal brings a different type of attacking approach to the field, but Sanchez still has to be massive in the middle of defense to slow down the attacking fluidity between Ronaldo, Joao Felix and others.
Ronaldo played much better on Matchday 2 against Uzbekistan, but that was also against the worst team in Group K.
Ronaldo needs to prove he can perform against a top South American side, one that could make a deep run in the knockout round based on how it played so far in the group stage.
Colombia wins Group K with a win or draw, while Portugal must win to top Group K.
The Group K winner faces a third-place team in Kansas City on July 3, while the Group K runner-up faces the Group L runner-up, which could be Croatia, on July 2 in Toronto.
