Jimmy Butler Updates Injury Rehab, Timeline to Return to Warriors After ACL Surgery
Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler is reportedly making progress as he recovers from ACL surgery.
The Athletic's Nick Friedell reported Thursday that Butler said he is "doing well in his rehab" and approximately six weeks away from resuming running. Butler added he wants to host the Warriors at his San Diego-area home prior to training camp.
The six-time All-Star called his progress "incredible" and seems to be on the right track:
The comments about hosting the Warriors at his home were notable considering he previously did the same ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
"I just wanted to be around my guys," he told reporters last year when discussing the experience. "I got the opportunity to see a lot of them over the summer or to go where they are from. Maybe not see them, but see people I know from their neck of the woods.
"So it was important for me to welcome—those are guys, like my family, into my home and have a good time and let them in a little bit of my life."
Last season was set to be Butler's first full one with Golden State after it acquired him via trade from the Miami Heat during the 2024-25 campaign. However, he played just 38 games due to injury.
Butler was far from the only major injury concern for last season's Warriors, as Stephen Curry was limited to 43 games, while Kristaps Porziņģis played 15.
The end result was a disappointing 37-45 campaign that ended with a play-in tournament loss to the Phoenix Suns.
Pairing a healthy Butler with Curry during the 2026-27 campaign would drastically raise Golden State's overall ceiling, so it is surely welcome news for the team and its fans that he is progressing from his ACL injury and not that far away from running.
