Ronaldo opened the scoring in the sixth minute, finishing a shot from the center of the box off a pinpoint cross from Joao Cancelo to give Portugal an early 1-0 lead.
Portugal doubled its advantage in the 17th minute on a cleverly designed free kick. With Ronaldo serving as a decoy, Nuno Mendes slipped behind the Uzbekistan wall and fired a left-footed shot past the goalkeeper to make it 2-0.
Uzbekistan appeared to cut the deficit in half in the 28th minute when Aziz Ganiev found the back of the net, but the goal was overturned following a VAR review that determined a foul had occurred during the buildup.
Ronaldo struck again just over 10 minutes later, finishing a fast-break opportunity off an assist from Bruno Fernandes to extend Portugal's lead and record his second goal of the match.
Portugal extended its lead shortly after halftime when a Fernandes corner kick resulted in an own goal, credited to Uzbekistan's goalkeeper, pushing the advantage to 4-0.
Rafael Leão put the finishing touches on Portugal's dominant performance in the 87th minute, scoring his first career World Cup goal just four minutes after entering the match as a substitute to extend the lead to 5-0.
The loss left Uzbekistan on the brink of elimination from knockout-round contention. The side would be officially eliminated if DR Congo defeats Colombia later Tuesday.
Colombia can clinch a spot in the Round of 32 with a victory over DR Congo. Following Portugal's win over Uzbekistan, Portugal moved to four points in Group K, while a Colombian victory later Tuesday would push Colombia to six points and secure advancement.
Such a result would also set up a pivotal group finale between Colombia and Portugal on June 27, with Portugal still having a chance to claim the Group K title with a win over Colombia.
That potentially pivotal Group K matchup between Portugal and Colombia is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. ET at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
