HT - Jordan 1, Algeria 0

Algeria will be disappointed after an encouraging start. There have been crisp passing sequences within their attack, led by playmaker Ibrahim Maza and attacking full-back Rayan Alt-Nouri. They didn't create many chances early on, but there was a methodical approach to get their talisman involved, which nearly led to a goal in the 34th minute.
A well-calculated long ball from defensive midfielder Hicham Boudaoui found Riyad Mahrez, who made a sharp run to get behind Jordan's back line. He used his frame well to stay upright when pressured from behind but couldn't get his shot past goalkeeper Yazeed Yazeed Abulaila. That appeared to give Algeria a platform to build on and take control. That changed two minutes later.
Jordan's Mousa Tamari did well to carry the ball into the box. After being cut off, he remained patient to look for a teammate on the cutback. Mahmound Al Mardi appeared to be the right option, until he completely missed the shot. The ball graciously fell to midfielder Nizar Al Rashdan, who wasn't going to let the opportunity be wasted. His low shot got past Luca Zidane's right hand for the crucial goal. It was against the run of play, but Jordan will be thrilled with their effort and execution.
