A.J. Minter Reportedly Traded to Twins Ahead of 2026 MLB Deadline, Mets Get 2 Prospects

The Minnesota Twins are reportedly acquiring left-handed reliever A.J. Minter in a trade with the New York Mets, per ESPN's Jeff Passan.

As Passan noted, the 47-63 Mets are expected to be sellers ahead of Monday's trade deadline, and the Minter trade is likely just the opening salvo.

The Mets will receive prospects Bruin Agbayani and Billy Amick, per The Athletic's Will Sammon.

The Twins, meanwhile, are 55-55 and just three games back of the Chicago White Sox in the congested AL Central. Thursday's trade is an indication that the Twins are very much interested in fueling a playoff push.

Minter, 32, is 1-1 this season across 23 appearances with a 2.35 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 20 strikeouts and one hold. He'll provide the Twins with a lefty to utilize in leverage situations, a need once Anthony Banda was lost for the year in June due to a left lat strain.

All eyes are on high-profile trade candidates like Tarik Skubal heading into the weekend. But the Twins did well to address a need and gear up for a potential postseason run.
