New Jaylen Brown Trade Rumors on Bucks, Clippers amid Celtics' Pursuit of Giannis
The Boston Celtics appear to be steadfast in their pursuit of Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, and many are wondering what it means for the future of star guard Jaylen Brown.
According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, if Boston sends Brown to Milwaukee as part of a deal for Antetokounmpo, some executives around the league are "assuming it would be a foregone conclusion that the Bucks would try to flip Brown to another team to get future first-round draft pick compensation as part of a rebuilding effort." However, sources told Scotto that Milwaukee "would consider keeping Brown."
Sam Amick of The Athletic previously reported that it was "unclear" if the Bucks would attempt to build around Brown or flip him for younger players and draft compensation. Amick added that it is "widely believed" Milwaukee will want more than just Brown in a trade for Antetokounmpo, pointing out that Boston has three first-round picks to include in an offer.
While the Bucks now sound more open to holding onto Brown, ESPN's Marc J. Spears reported last week, "I know Jaylen wouldn't want to play for Milwaukee."
Scotto noted that Brown "is locked in for $183 million over the next three seasons on his contract," so he could have no choice but to stay wherever he lands if he's traded this offseason.
The 29-year-old remains one of the premier two-way players in the NBA, so he will have the chance to be the definitive No. 1 option if the Bucks ship away Antetokounmpo to acquire him.
