New NBA Mock Draft 2026 Drops amid Rumors on AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Wizards and Jazz
The 2026 NBA draft is just a few days away, and final predictions are still trickling in before things commence on Tuesday.
The Athletic's Sam Vecenie unveiled his latest mock draft based on intel from league sources, and he maintained that the Washington Wizards would select BYU wing AJ Dybantsa first overall, with Kansas guard Darryn Peterson falling to the Utah Jazz at No. 2.
The full top 10 from Vecenie's mock draft is as follows:

Interestingly, Vecenie's top five picks are identical to the latest mock draft from B/R's Jonathan Wasserman.
According to Vecenie, "sources say that Washington continues due diligence and that the Wizards haven't made a decision yet." However, sources also reportedly said "not to read too much into the fact that Peterson is not currently scheduled to go to the Utah Jazz to work out; they don't think that means the Wizards have made an undisclosed promise to pick Peterson."
Vecenie noted that "sources indicate that the Jazz are also undecided on what to do at No. 2." However, Utah faced a similar situation with 2025 No. 5 pick Ace Bailey, as it selected him despite indications that his team was trying to steer him elsewhere.
"The fact that Peterson has not yet come in for a workout will not dissuade the Jazz from taking the player at the top of their board," Vecenie stated.
The 2026 draft class is filled with talented players who are expected to make an immediate impact at the next level, so fans will continue counting down to the start of the first round on Tuesday.
