New Celtics Rumors on Giannis Trade Reveal Boston is 'Shopping' Jaylen Brown, More Amid Heat Buzz
The Boston Celtics are reportedly willing to part ways with several players, including star Jaylen Brown, as the team shows interest in Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
According to Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor, the Celtics are open to trading every player on their roster outside of Jayson Tatum.
"I have heard Boston is shopping people around a lot right now," O'Connor reported on the Kevin O'Connor Show. "That Boston is making calls, Boston is open to trading anybody besides Jayson Tatum. And that doesn't necessarily mean they land Giannis at the end of the day but I do believe, based off all the conversations I've had, is that the Celtics are in on Giannis. And if they are making a push on him and that this seems to be currently a two-team race with Milwaukee to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo."

Celtics Haven't Talked Trade with Brown

Herro Likely Part of Giannis Trade Package
NBA insider Jake Fischer also reported that the Miami Heat were pursuing Antetokounmpo, but the Celtics are "believed to be a potential suitor that genuinely concerns Miami."
Per Fischer, the Heat have a trade offer for the two-time MVP that is "widely presumed" to contain guard Tyler Herro, center Kel'el Ware and forward Jaime Jacquez Jr. as well as draft capital.
In order for Boston to beat Miami's reported offer while keeping Tatum off the table in negotiations with Milwaukee, Brown may be on the move.
Brown is coming off an impressive 2025-26 season for the Celtics, becoming their No. 1 option on offense while Tatum recovered from a torn Achilles. He averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game on 47.7/34.7/79.5 shooting splits while earning All-NBA Second Team honors.
The five-time All-Star has spent all 10 years of his career in Boston, but the team could choose to part ways with him in order to pair Tatum with Antetokounmpo.
While the Bucks missed the playoffs with a 32-50 record this year, the 2021 Finals MVP still showcased his two-way impact when available.
Antetokounmpo recorded 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 0.9 steals per game in 36 appearances. He shot 62.4 percent from the field and connected on 33.3 percent of his triples.
As the Celtics look to bounce back from their first-round playoff exit and go on a deeper postseason run next year, significant roster changes could be on the horizon.
