The group of Finals referees includes Tony Brothers, Scott Foster, Marc Davis and James Capers.
In addition to the 12 game officials, the NBA announced Nick Buchert, JB DeRosa, Mitchell Ervin and Justin Van Duyne as alternates for the series.
Per the league's press release, referees are assigned to the Finals based on various "key criteria" that is assessed throughout the course of the season and after each postseason round.
The criteria includes grades and rankings, play-calling accuracy and team ratings as defined by NBA Referee Operations.
