Tarris Reed Jr. to Spurs After Nuggets Trade, Watch Highlights of No. 26 Pick in 2026 NBA Draft
After an outstanding four-year college career, Tarris Reed Jr. is on his way to the NBA.
The former Michigan and UConn center was selected 26th overall by the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday, though that pick was traded to the Spurs, so Reed is on his way to San Antonio.
Reed, a 4-star prospect coming out of high school, spent the first two years of his collegiate career with Michigan before transferring to UConn for his final two seasons.
He put together his best season as a senior, averaging 14.7 points, 9.0 boards and 2.0 blocks per game while shooting 60.7 percent from the field. He helped the Huskies reach the national championship game, where they fell to his former team, Michigan.
In his scouting report of Reed, Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman compared the big man to Day'Ron Sharpe, a 24-year-old center who has found a place in the league with the Brooklyn Nets.
Reed doesn't exactly fit the mold for a modern big man since he's mostly limited to what he can do in the paint, but he should still be able to find a place in the league as an elite rebounder who can defend well.
There's also likely still some untapped potential that the Spurs will try to develop and turn Reed into a star.
