Dray Declining $27.7M Option

Buzz: Lakers Changing Bron Approach
The deal comes amid rumors of the Warriors eyeing a potential move to bring LeBron James and Anthony Davis to Golden State. Draymond Green recently declined his $27.7 million player option for next season, paving the way for the Warriors to have more cap space to work with.
James and the Lakers reportedly haven't made progress on a new deal, and the free-agent negotiation window opens on Tuesday.
Porziņģis' deal likely prevents the Warriors from using the $15m non-tax mid-level exception, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks, which could throw a wrinkle in Golden State's plans of signing James.
Porziņģis landed in Golden State in February after being traded from the Hawks as part of the deal that sent Jonathan Kuminga to Atlanta. In 15 games, Porziņģis put up 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game.
He played just 32 games during the 2025-26 campaign, marking his second consecutive season playing fewer than 50 games. Despite the fact that he wasn't on the court much, the Warriors reportedly wanted the big man back, just at a friendly price.
The 30-year-old Porziņģis has spent most of his career as a journeyman, but especially over the last few seasons. After being traded to the Washington Wizards in 2022, he was dealt to the Boston Celtics for two seasons before being traded to the Hawks.
This offseason, he finally had the chance to decide where he wanted to play rather than being traded, and he opted to stay with the Warriors.
Golden State is coming off a rough season in which it finished 37-45, missing the playoffs for the second time in the last three years as star guard Stephen Curry battled injuries.
The Warriors are hoping to return to their championship-contending ways this year, and clearly, they felt like Porziņģis could help them get back to that level.
