Every Athlete Drake Referenced on 'Iceman,' Including LeBron James, Steph Curry, Jalen Hurts
Drake referenced athletes from the NBA and NFL to the NCAA on his new album Iceman that dropped Friday.
That included an apparent nod to Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts in the song "Make Them Pay."
"Make Them Pay" also featured a reference to former NBA star Gilbert Arenas as Drake referenced being "inside arenas like Gilbert Arenas."
Both LeBron James and Stephen Curry seemingly popped up Iceman, part of a trilogy of albums Drake released alongside Maid of Honour and Habibti, on the track "Make Them Remember."
Drake appeared to reference James with the line, "I shouldn't even be shocked to see you in that arena, because you always made your career off of switching teams up."
He also might have pointed to Jamesย with the lines, "Please stop asking what's going on with 23 and me," and "he's not, it's in my DNA," seemingly referencing James' number and potentially his support of Kendrick Lamar with a nod to Lamar's song "DNA."
Curry got a nod in "2 Hard 4 the Radio" with the line "Back when they was asking about where Davidson was atโฆ now everybody got a blue 30 on they back."
"National Treasure" included a nod to the late Kobe Bryant with the line "R.I.P. Kobe."
Drake kept his eye trained on the NBA on Maid of Honour's "Q&A" with lyrics referencing Michael Jordan and Kevin Durant.
Former NBA star and Muggsy Bogues, who played 14 seasons as the shortest player in league history, got a shout in "Make Them Remember" with the line: "And Muggsy Bogues dunked for once, even I'm a bit amazed."
Drake seemingly referenced both Wilt Chamberlain ("Kept it a hundred on paper like Wilt") and Kyrie Irving ("I might just tell Ky get another small price 'cause he kept it one hundred") in the song "Janice STFU."
Florida's men's basketball's 2025 run to the NCAA title seemingly got a shoutout as well in "What Did I Miss?" with the line, "...natty like a Florida Gator."
A range of athletes reacted to Drake's triple album drop, including Trae Young, Maxx Crosby, Kyle Hamilton, Nick Richards and Cam Heyward.
Iceman, Maid of Honour and Habibti ranked as the top three albums on the U.S. Apple Music charts as of early Friday morning.
