Zach Collins, Bulls Reportedly Agree to New Contract in NBA Free Agency, Updated Salary Cap
Zach Collins' time with the Chicago Bulls has gotten off to a rough start, but he'll get at least a few more years with the organization.
Per ESPN's Shams Charania, the Bulls signed the veteran big man to a two-year, $17 million contract extension.
The contract comes despite Collins having played just 38 games in a Bulls uniform. He was traded to Chicago from San Antonio at the 2024-25 trade deadline after four years with the Spurs.
Collins looked to put together his first full season with the Bulls last season, but he was sidelined to start the year because of a wrist injury. He made his season debut in December but played just 10 games before suffering a right toe injury just before the new year.
That injury lingered for a few weeks and ultimately required season-ending surgery in February.
"I thought I had a really good summer. I was really looking forward to helping the team," Collins told reporters. "It's been a frustrating year injury-wise as a whole for the team, but individually I knew I had more to give [Billy Donovan] and felt like the team would have been in a better spot had I not gone through all these injuries."
Collins finished the season averaging 9.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while playing 18.4 minutes across 10 contests. He'll look to put together a healthy season this year and prove Chicago made the right decision to give him a new contract.
