New Darryn Peterson Rumors on Top Landing Spot in 2026 NBA Draft After Lottery Results
The floor for Kansas guard Darryn Peterson in the 2026 NBA draft might be the No. 2 overall pick.
CBS Sports' Adam Finkelstein reported Peterson is the consensus choice for the Utah Jazz.
"Peterson is not only a good fit for Utah's current roster, but some people, including myself, wonder if some inside the Jazz front office might consider him to be a superior talent," Finkelstein wrote. "The Ainges, Danny and Austin, have long been known to follow the top prospects in high school basketball, and so they are undoubtedly aware of what Peterson's game and reputation were before this year's availability issues."
Finkelstein added that Utah could cool on Peterson based on how his individual workouts and visits with the team go. Maybe he doesn't interview well, or medical testing could raise a serious concern.
Otherwise, the odds of Peterson landing in Salt Lake City look good.
In his post-lottery mock draft, Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman projected the guard to follow BYU's AJ Dybantsa on draft night and join the Jazz's wider rebuild.
Peterson averaged 20.2 points on 43.8 percent shooting overall and 38.2 percent from long range during his lone year at Kansas. He missed 11 games, a problem he attributed partially to taking creatine.
Wasserman compared him to Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards. Getting a player that good to pair with Keyonte George and Ace Bailey would cement Utah's foundation.
