Wembanyama is not expected to be suspended for the foul, per The Athletic's Jared Weiss and Mike Prada.
Popovich stepped away from coaching the Spurs after suffering a stroke in November 2024, although he has remained with the team in a front office role this season.
He was present at the Spurs' facility for a shootaround ahead of Tuesday night's home game.
Forward Dylan Vassell told Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News that Popovich has "helped a lot" during the Spurs' run to the second round.
"The film session, he helped out a lot. He just has so much wisdom, and that's just stuff you can't take for granted," Vassell told Orsborn. "You got to be able to ask questions and he'll be able to help you out."
When asked what specific feedback Popovich gives his players, Vassell told Orsborn: "He gives us a lot, but just being more physical, being ready, playing off two feet."
Popovich has also been giving feedback to the team's coaching staff. Spurs coach Mitch Johnson described him as a "constant resource" heading into his first NBA playoffs as head coach.
The Spurs went on to open the playoffs with a five-game first-round series win over the Portland Trail Blazers.
San Antonio then went up 2-1 on the Timberwolves before dropping Game 4 in the wake of Wembanyama's ejection.
The Spurs will hope Popovich's guidance and Wembanyama's return will help the team claim a 3-2 series lead when Game 5 tips off Tuesday night in San Antonio.
