Josh Hart Trolls 76ers Fans After Sweep, Philadelphia Not a 'Sports Town'
Josh Hart surely had plenty of fans in Philadelphia when he was helping the Villanova men's basketball team win a national championship, but they probably aren't happy with him now.
"I used to think Philly was a sports town, I don't know if it is anymore," the New York Knicks guard told reporters Sunday after his team finished a sweep of the Philadelphia 76ers with a blowout 144-114 victory.
He was referencing how many Knicks fans made their presence known during Games 3 and 4 in Philadelphia.
Jalen Brunson was a bit more diplomatic and said, "It's a really cool feeling. It's something that I will always think is one of the coolest things in the world, when you hear Knicks fans in opposing arenas."
Knicks fans potentially taking over Philadelphia was a storyline heading into the series.
"I just have a message for our fans," Joel Embiid said after the 76ers defeated the Boston Celtics in the first round. "Last time we played the Knicks, it felt like [Philadelphia] was Madison Square Garden East. We're going to need the support.
"Don't sell your tickets. This is bigger than you. We need you guys."
It seems like the fans didn't take his message to heart.
The broadcast made it clear how many Knicks fans were in attendance during the two games. They taunted the 76ers players, roared when New York pulled away and generally took over the atmosphere.
It surely didn't help that the 76ers played so poorly on the floor, as they didn't exactly give their fans who were in attendance anything to cheer about as the Knicks finished the sweep.
But it will surely be a storyline once again when they play next season, especially after Hart's latest comments.
