Celtics' Jayson Tatum Posts Cryptic Denzel Washington Video on 'BS' Amid Jaylen Brown Rumors
As Jaylen Brown has engaged in a verbal spat with members of the media about his status with the Boston Celtics, Jayson Tatum appears to have indirectly entered the discussion based on a recent social media post.
Tatum's latest Instagram Story includes a video clip of Denzel Washington discussing the media trend of being first regardless of whether or not the information is "BS."
The post comes amid speculation surrounding Brown's status with the Celtics. Tracy McGrady said on his podcast after Boston's first-round playoff loss to the Philadelphia 76ers that there is a "frustration" from Brown toward the organization.
"I think his frustration lies deeply within the organization and other things that we don't really have the details to," McGrady said. "There's just been a lot of stuff that I've been hearing just going on with the Boston organization, with JB."
Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens disputed that, telling reporters on Wednesday that his conversations with Brown after the postseason loss were "nothing but positive."
Brown escalated the public discussion on Thursday when he responded to a video of Stephen A. Smith saying on First Take that he needs to "be quiet" by telling the ESPN commentator to retire.
Brown has not publicly indicated that he is unhappy with the Celtics or looking to get traded elsewhere. He described this season as "one of my most fun years playing basketball," even though it "wasn't always perfect."
"I hate that our president of basketball operations even had to respond to this," Brown added. "Me and Brad have a great relationship. I love Boston. And if it was up to me I could play in Boston for the next 10 years."
Since Tatum missed most of the regular season recovering from a torn Achilles, Brown was the No. 1 option in Boston for the first time in his career. He responded by averaging a career-high 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game in 71 starts.
The Celtics finished as the No. 2 seed in the East with a 56-26 record, but they lost in the first round of the playoffs for the first time since the 2020-21 season.
