Tyler Herro Injury Update, Latest on Heat Star's Foot and Recovery Timeline After Surgery Decision
Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro is set to undergo a minor surgery on his right foot this week, according to Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel.
Winderman reported the procedure should "not impact his offseason work."
Herro was limited to 33 appearances in 2025-26. He averaged 20.5 points and 4.1 assists while shooting 48.0 percent from the floor, including 37.8 percent from beyond the arc.
The 6'5" sharpshooter closed out the year by scoring 23 points in the Heat's 127-126 overtime loss to the Charlotte Hornets in the play-in tournament.
As the regular season was drawing to a close, Herro reflected on what he called a "long, weird, awkward" campaign.
"Different injuries, in and out," he said, per the Miami Herald's Anthony Chiang. I started the season out, obviously, for kind of like an indefinite time, not really knowing when I was coming back. So it's just like taking it one step at a time, one day at a time and one game at a time."
The foot surgery adds to what's likely to be another summer of uncertainty for Herro.
After back-to-back first-round exits, the Heat couldn't even qualify for the playoffs this year. They clearly need upgrades to the roster.
A trade for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo could be Miami's big swing. The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson reported prior to the Feb. 5 trade deadline the team had interest in the two-time MVP. Herro was included in the likely package slated to go out if the deal came together.
The Heat can probably circle back to that idea in the weeks ahead.
Whether Antetokounmpo is the preferred target or not, Herro's $33 million expiring salary makes him an obvious candidate in any blockbuster trade. In that sense, the fact his surgery is minor is good news for the team.
