Heat's Spoelstra Says LaMelo Should've Been Ejected for 'Dangerous Play' Causing Bam Injury
The Miami Heat were without their star center as their season came to an end against the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday.
Bam Adebayo suffered a back injury in the first half after a controversial moment in which LaMelo Ball appeared to grab his ankle as he was falling.
After the game, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Ball should've been ejected for a "dangerous play."

"I don't think it's cute. I don't think it's funny. I think it's a stupid play," Spoelstra told reporters. "It's a dangerous play… That's a shame. He should be penalized for that. I don't think that belongs in the game, tripping guys... He should've been thrown out of the game for that."
Adebayo's absence was felt after he played just 11 minutes. The Heat struggled on defense and got out-rebounded 54-48. The Hornets also hauled in five more offensive boards than Miami.
Second-year big man Kel'el Ware stepped up with Adebayo out, as he collected 12 points, 19 rebounds and five blocks, but that wasn't enough to keep Miami's season alive.
Not only was Ball not ejected, but he also ended up making the play of the game. Ball made a crucial turnover and then fouled Tyler Herro while he was shooting a three, allowing Miami to take a late lead, but he then hit what would be the game-winning shot, a driving layup with just a few seconds remaining.
Ball finished the game with 30 points and 10 assists on 12-of-31 from the field and 2-of-16 from deep.
After the game, Ball explained the play from his perspective, saying that he got hit in the head and wasn't completely aware of his surroundings.
"I apologize on that one," he told reporters. "I got hit in the head, didn't really know where I was, but I'mma check on him and see if he's okay and everything. I haven't even seen it."
Adebayo had a memorable season in a lot of ways, including his historic 83-point performance, but his year ended on bad terms. The hope now is that he's not dealing with a long-term injury.
