Watch LeBron, Bronny James Record 1st Father-Son Assist in NBA History for Lakers on Video
Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James and his eldest son, L.A. guard Bronny James, connected on the first-ever father-and-son assist in NBA history on Friday evening during a home game against the Brooklyn Nets.
Bronny found LeBron at the top of the key, but LeBron passed it back out to his son, who calmly hit a three from the wing to cut the Nets' lead to 44-42 in the second quarter.
The two first made history as the first-ever father-and-son duo to play in the NBA at the same time (and on the same team) on Oct. 22, 2024, when the Lakers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-103.
The younger James, a second-round pick in the 2024 NBA draft out of USC, played in 27 games last year. He's suited up for 33 games with the Lakers and 13 regular season contests with the G League's South Bay Lakers in 2025-26.
James has received limited action in the NBA, but has fared well in G League action, averaging 14.8 points on 54.7 percent shooting, 3.6 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game this season.
James got 13 minutes in a 137-130 win over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, scoring four points and adding a pair of steals. He got more court time against the Nets on Friday and took advantage, connecting with his father to make NBA history.
