Jaylen Brown Explains Jayson Tatum Meeting After Star's Return to Celtics from Achilles Injury
Boston Celtics stars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum know what it takes to win together, so when Tatum returned from his torn Achilles earlier this month, it was important for them to get on the same page.
During an appearance on NBC's Basketball Night In America (2:50 mark), Brown opened up about the meeting that he and Tatum had after Tatum made his way back to the court.
"It was great. The initial conversation, having that communication, sometimes as guys you gotta do what you gotta do at your job, sometimes your communication falls off," Brown said. "So, to be able to get back on the same page is important, but it's gonna take more communication as the year goes on. Things change, you got adversity, ups and downs. We just communicated that, 'It's gonna be me and you.' Our communication sets the tone for the rest of the team, and we both gotta be better going forward if we want this thing to work."

In eight games since returning to the lineup, Tatum has impressed with averages of 19.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.1 steals. His comeback helps make Boston one of the favorites to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals this season.
However, Brown has remained the Celtics' No. 1 option, and rightfully so. The 29-year-old is performing at an MVP level with 28.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game.
It appears that both Brown and Tatum are comfortable with the current arrangement, and they will try to make a statement when the Celtics (47-24) meet the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder (56-15) on Wednesday night.
