Jeremiyah Love Updated Landing Spots After Predicted Teams Sign RBs in 2026 NFL Free Agency

Andrew PetersMar 9, 2026

A pair of teams that needed running backs opted to get them through free agency rather than the draft on Monday.

The Kansas City Chiefs signed Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker, while the New Orleans Saints picked up Travis Etienne. With those two teams now having filled their backfields, the question is where star running back prospect Jeremiyah Love will land.

While the Chiefs and Saints were perhaps the favorites to draft Love, the New York Giants have also been linked to the Notre Dame product. The Los Angeles Rams could also benefit from a running back, while the Baltimore Ravens might be looking to find Derrick Henry's eventual replacement.

Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department considers Love to be the top running back and the No. 2 overall player in this year's draft class, only behind Ohio State safety Caleb Downs.

Love rushed for 1,125 yards and 17 touchdowns as a sophomore before picking up 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2025. While it has become somewhat uncommon for running backs to go inside the top 10, Love is the kind of player who is worth taking that early.

ESPN's Jordan Raanan noted that there were talks at the NFL combine of the Giants "seriously looking at some of the top running backs." He added that "there seems to be a clear focus on becoming a more physical run-heavy team" under new head coach John Harbaugh.

If establishing the run game is a priority this offseason, Love seems like the perfect player to draft at No. 5.

The Rams already have a strong first option at running back in Kyren Williams, who has rushed for at least 1,100 yards and 10 touchdowns in each of the last three years. The team also gave him a three-year extension last offseason.

Still, the Rams are in a great spot in this draft since they landed in the upper half despite making the NFC championship thanks to owning the Atlanta Falcons' pick. Los Angeles' draft position gives it some flexibility to get the best player on the board, which could be Love if he's still available.

The Ravens still have a generational running back in their backfield in Henry, who had the second-most rushing yards (1,595) and the second-most touchdowns (16) in 2025. Even if Henry is still putting up outstanding numbers, it's impossible to ignore the fact that he's 32 and will likely see some decline soon.

Picking up a running back like Love in the draft could ensure that Baltimore's run game doesn't miss a beat if Henry can't repeat his success in the coming years.
