Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets couldn't overcome Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors on Thursday night, falling by the final score of 115-113 in overtime.

With Golden State leading by one point and less than 10 seconds remaining in the contest, Warriors guard De'Anthony Melton put back an offensive rebound to seal the victory.

Durant finished with 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting, recording six rebounds and four steals.

Still, he missed two of his five free-throw attempts with under 30 seconds remaining in overtime. It snapped a streak of 31 consecutive free throws made.

As for Green, he amassed 10 points, eight assists, five rebounds and one steal in 35 minutes on the floor. He also shot 4-of-6 from the field.

Fans were disappointed after the loss from Houston, especially with Warriors star Stephen Curry missing his 12th consecutive game due to a knee injury.

Golden State opened Thursday's game on a 14-6 run, eventually taking a 30-20 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Warriors still held a 10-point advantage with just under four minutes remaining in the second, but the Rockets closed the half on a 12-6 run of their own to stay within striking distance.

Golden State led 51-47 at halftime.

Houston found more consistency on offense during the third quarter, scoring 35 points in the period and eventually taking a one-point lead heading into the fourth.

Neither team was able to gain much separation throughout the final 12 minutes of regulation. A three-pointer from Al Horford gave the Warriors a late two-point lead, but Houston tied the game with a bucket by Alperen Şengün.

After Durant blocked a shot from Melton, Rockets forward Amen Thompson couldn't convert a lob pass with 0.3 seconds remaining in the fourth.

Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski scored seven of Golden State's first nine points in overtime, giving his team a five-point lead.

While the Rockets were able to cut the deficit to one point with a free throw from Thompson and a triple by Durant, Melton's final shot cemented the defeat.

Podziemski ended the night with 26 points and nine rebounds, shooting 10-of-18 from the field. Melton also chipped in with 23 points and three steals.

Houston struggled to protect the rim throughout the contest, as the Warriors shot 55.4 percent on two-point field goals and scored 60 points in the paint.

The Rockets fell to No. 4 in the Western Conference standings with a 38-23 record following the loss, while Golden State improved to 32-30.
