Mike Morse to Pirates: Latest Trade Details, Comments and Reaction
Former Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman and outfielder Mike Morse was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates, along with cash considerations, in exchange for outfielder Jose Tabata, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.
The Pirates also made the move official.
Morse, 33, is hitting just .213 with four home runs and 12 RBI in 53 games this season. He was initially traded to the Dodgers in the crazy three-team deal with the Atlanta Braves and Miami Marlins but was clearly disregarded as surplus to requirements before being sent to the Pirates.

For the Dodgers, shedding his two-year, $16 million salary made sense, even if the team sent money in the deal.
For the Pirates, nabbing a versatile player like Morse, who also brings pop to the plate—he's hit 15 or more home runs in four of the previous five seasons coming into 2015—gives them even more options in their lineup as they make a push for the postseason.
Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports thinks the Pirates got better at the deadline:
Morse's addition, along with that of Aramis Ramirez earlier in the season, gives the team even more veteran sluggers for the middle of the lineup to protect players like Andrew McCutchen and Pedro Alvarez.
