Lakers Trade Rumors on Gabe Vincent, Jarred Vanderbilt amid Jonathan Kuminga Buzz

Julia StumbaughJan 15, 2026

The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly considering packaging Gabe Vincent and Jarred Vanderbilt in a deadline trade, Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor said Thursday on his podcast.

The Lakers have also been shopping their 2032 first-round pick for "two or three" lower first-round picks, according to O'Connor.

Acquiring more tradable trade picks would give the Lakers more capital to combine with a trade package involving Vanderbilt and Vincent, or a separate package combining Vincent and Maxi Kleber, O'Connor noted.

O'Connor went on to name the New Orleans Pelicans' Herb Jones and Tre Murphy III, alongside Jonathan Kuminga, as possible trade targets for the Lakers ahead of the Feb. 5 deadline.

The Athletic's Marcus Thompson II, Sam Amick and Nick Friedell similarly reported Thursday that "league and team sources confirmed a report that the Lakers have some interest in Kuminga."

"It remains unclear if talks will unfold," Thompson, Amick and Friedell wrote. "The Warriors, the sources said, are aware of the intrigue and waiting to see how that situation evolves."

O'Connor's report comes after ESPN's Anthony Slater and Shams Charania reported Kuminga had "demanded a trade" from the Warriors.

NBA insider Jake Fischer previously reported the Lakers had a "known preference" for "a true 3-and-D wing with size if possible to provide some point-of-attack resistance on the perimeter as well as some shooting."

"The Lakers, according to sources, did call Golden State about Kuminga during the sides' summer standoff in restricted free agency," Fischer wrote. "I'm told that the Lakers have likewise continued to monitor Kuminga's situation while casting a wide net to try to find help on a very limited wing market."

Kuminga is currently playing under a $22.5 million cap hit, with a $24.3 million club option for next season, per Spotrac.

The Lakers could theoretically match that salary by sending out Vincent and Vanderbilt, who are both playing under cap hits of about $11.5 million this season, per Spotrac.

Vincent is playing on an expiring contract, which Slater and Charania reported the Warriors "have been prioritizing" when seeking potential deals for Kuminga. According to Slater and Charania, trade talks with the Sacramento Kings have stalled because the Warriors don't want to take on the extra season and player option on Malik Monk's contract.

Vanderbilt has the same term remaining on his deal, although his $11 million AAV could be more palatable than Monk's $19.5 million per year, per Spotrac.

Kuminga, who fell almost entirely out of the Warriors' rotation earlier this season, hasn't played since Dec. 18. If the Lakers ultimately target him, they'll hope a fresh start and more playing time will help Kuminga bounce back with a stronger back half of his fifth campaign in the NBA.
