Jaylen Brown Fined for Ripping NBA Refs After Celtics' Loss to Spurs, How Much Money Did He Lose?
Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has picked up a lofty fine after making comments about the officiating in Saturday's loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
The NBA announced Monday that Brown has earned a $35,000 fine for public criticism of officiating.

After the Celtics' 100-95 loss to the Spurs, Brown ranted about the officiating, saying he was willing to accept whatever fine came his way.
"I feel like, honestly, they just got away with a lot, and I'm tired of the inconsistency," Brown told reporters. "I'll accept the fine at this point. I thought it was some bulls--t tonight. I think [the Spurs are] a good defensive team, but they ain't that damn good.
"I hope somebody can just pull up the clips, because it's the same s---t every time we play a good team. It's like they refuse to make a call then call touch fouls on the other end."
Brown also called out crew chief Curtis Blair by name.
"Every time we play a good team, the inconsistency is crazy. I'll take the f--king fine. Curtis, all them dudes was terrible tonight. I don't care. They can fine me whatever they want. But it's crazy. Every time we play a good team, it's the same bulls--t. Somebody please pull up the clips."
Brown then double downed on the fact that he's okay with a fine on social media.
The rant came after a game in which the Celtics shot just four free throws compared to 20 from the Spurs. San Antonio was called for 13 personal fouls while Boston was called for 18.
While it's easy to see why Brown and the Celtics may be frustrated over the lack of calls, it's worth noting that the Spurs have the third-best defensive rating in the league.
On the other hand, Boston perhaps hasn't had the friendliest whistle this year, as the Celtics rank last in free-throw attempts per game.
Still, the 2024 champs have enjoyed a strong start to the season, sitting in third place in the East at 24-14 despite being without star Jayson Tatum, who suffered a torn Achilles last postseason.
