Will Draymond Green Get Traded? NBA Insider Dishes on Warriors Legend's Future
Draymond Green figures to remain with the Golden State Warriors beyond the 2026 trade deadline, according to ESPN's Anthony Slater.
"I would very heavily predict he remains here past the trade deadline," Slater said during a Friday appearance on The Hoop Collective (20:24 mark). "Considering the trades that could and couldn't be made and some of the building blocks needed. And his play recently compared to the other two megastars on the team is a little bit more in question. And then obviously you mix in some of the ejections, the storming off the bench, the stuff with Steve Kerr."
"He has had a little bit of a roller coaster that I think has settled a bit partly because typically with Draymond, it's a little bit of a boiling over, an explosion and then a resettling," he added.
Sam Amick of The Athletic previously reported that the Warriors were "staunchly against" trading Green.
The 35-year-old has spent all 14 seasons of his career with Golden State, earning four All-Star nods and securing Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2017.
Still, the Warriors own a 20-18 record and sit at No. 8 in the Western Conference standings this year. They could make a move ahead of the trade deadline to become a true championship contender and have reportedly shown interest in Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis.
Green hasn't been as sharp defensively compared to past years, as his averages of 0.9 steals and 0.7 blocks per game are both his lowest marks since his 2012-13 rookie season.
He leads the NBA with two ejections, while his nine technical fouls are the second-most among all players.
Green also got into an apparent argument with Warriors head coach Steve Kerr on the bench during a victory over the Orlando Magic on Dec. 22 and didn't play the rest of the contest.
Still, the Warriors could choose to retain him considering his established chemistry with Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler.
Golden State owns a plus-6.8 net rating when Green, Curry and Butler have shared the court this season (via NBA.com).
The trade deadline is on Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. ET.
