Everything Draymond Green, Steve Kerr Said on Heated Exchange in Viral Warriors Video

Joseph ZuckerDec 23, 2025

Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green didn't play the final 20 minutes of Monday's 120-97 victory over the Orlando Magic after he and head coach Steve Kerr had a tense exchange on the bench in the third quarter.

Kerr declined to specify what was said. He told reporters in his postgame press conference he and Green "had it out a little bit," at which point the four-time All-Star "made his decision to go back to the locker room to cool off."

Kerr added he had no intention of inserting Green back into the game from that point forward.

"He wasn't going back in. No," the coach said, per ESPN's Anthony Slater. "... He left. He went back to the locker room. We moved forward, and the guys played great."

Kerr called the situation "unfortunate" but said the Warriors "need Draymond" for the rest of the season.

Green, for his part, also refrained from divulging what sparked the argument and only said it was about "basketball."

"Tempers spilled over, and I thought it was best that I get out of there," he told reporters. "I don't think it was a situation where it was going to get better, so it was best to remove myself."

This is Green and Kerr's 12th season together.

"We've been at this now for a long time," Green said. "Sometimes, you're with people for a long time, there's a level of comfort, and s--t happens. We move forward."

Golden State pulled away from Orlando late, outscoring the Magic by 17 points in the fourth quarter, to get back to .500 (15-15) on the season.

Warriors star Stephen Curry, who scored a game-high 26 points, said it wasn't his place to reveal the details of Kerr and Green's exchange and expressed his frustration with how that was the focus after a win.

The Warriors have two days off before they host No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday. That time might be beneficial to help everyone decompress from what transpired Monday night.
