Kevin Durant buried a game-winning 3-pointer with just under four seconds remaining to lift the Houston Rockets past his former team, the Phoenix Suns, 100-97 at home Monday.

In addition to his three-point dagger, Durant finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, shooting 9-of-21 from the field and setting the tone on both ends of the floor.

Jabari Smith Jr. added 17 points and seven rebounds, while Amen Thompson chipped in 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Devin Booker led Phoenix with 27 points and three assists, and Dillon Brooks scored 15, but their efforts were not enough to push the Suns past Houston.

Fans reacted to Durant's game-winner that lifted the Houston Rockets past the Phoenix Suns.

The win improved the Houston Rockets to 22-11, keeping them fifth in the Western Conference, while the Phoenix Suns fell to 21-15 and remained seventh.

Durant played his second game against his former team after being part of a historic seven-team trade that sent him from Phoenix to Houston last July. In his first meeting with the Suns, Durant finished with 28 points, four rebounds and eight assists, adding two steals and a block while shooting 65 percent from the field.

Houston trailed by six points at halftime, with Durant leading the way with 13 points and Tari Eason adding 10. Booker had 11 points at the break for Phoenix, while Collin Gillespie also scored 11.

The Rockets surged in the third quarter to tie the game at 78 entering the fourth. The teams traded baskets down the stretch, and with the score tied, Booker had a chance to win it with 5.1 seconds remaining but missed a fadeaway jumper, leaving 3.8 seconds on the clock.

Durant then buried a 27-foot 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Houston past his former team.

The Rockets will hit the road to face the Portland Trail Blazers.
