Brendan Sorsby's 1-Year TTU Contract Reportedly Tops Shedeur Sanders' Full Browns Deal
Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby's one-year deal with the school is reportedly worth more than Cleveland Browns passer Shedeur Sanders' entire NFL rookie contract.
Sorsby will reportedly earn roughly $5 million after joining the Red Raiders in the transfer portal while Sanders is set to make $4.6 million across his rookie deal, via Front Office Sports.
While it's worth noting that Sanders was a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft, it's still surprising to see his NFL contract compared to Sorsby's hefty deal for a single year with Texas Tech.
Sorsby opened his college career at Indiana before transferring to Cincinnati ahead of the 2024 season. He threw for 2,813 yards and 18 touchdowns compared to seven interceptions during his first year at the school.
He took a step forward during his 2025 campaign, completing 61.6 percent of his passes for 2,800 yards and 27 touchdowns while getting picked off a mere five times. Sorsby also routinely made plays with his legs, rushing for 580 yards and nine scores.
Texas Tech is no stranger to spending big, reportedly investing over $7 million to secure defensive linemen David Bailey, Romello Height, Lee Hunter, Skyler Gill-Howard and A.J. Holmes Jr. prior to the 2025 season.
As the Red Raiders look to build upon their 12-2 finish in 2025 and subsequent College Football Playoff appearance, they'll turn to Sorsby under center.
