Brendan Sorsby Makes Transfer Decision Between Texas Tech, Lane Kiffin's LSU

One of the top quarterbacks in this year's transfer portal has made his decision.

Former Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby committed to transfer to Texas Tech over Lane Kiffin and LSU, he told ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Sorsby reportedly was being pursued by LSU and Miami in addition to Texas Tech. ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that he had visits with both the Tigers and Red Raiders in recent days. Thamel noted that Sorsby "was blown away by Texas Tech's facilities and appreciated the culture set there by the coaching staff."

247Sports considers Sorsby to be the No. 2 overall player and quarterback in the transfer portal this year.

Sorsby was a 3-star prospect coming out of high school and was considered to be the No. 66 quarterback in the class of 2022 by 247Sports' composite rankings.

Sorsby's collegiate career began at Indiana, where he redshirted his freshman year before throwing for 1,587 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions in 2023. He then transferred to Cincinnati, collecting 2,813 yards, 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2024.

He made a significant leap in 2025, throwing for 2,800 yards, 27 touchdowns and five interceptions while adding 580 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground.

Texas Tech is coming off one of its best seasons in program history as the Red Raiders finished 12-2, winning their first conference title since 1994 and reaching the College Football Playoff for the first time.

Texas Tech's success in the portal, mixed with its reported NIL spending, has already proved to make an impact, and now the Red Raiders will bring in one of the top quarterbacks in the portal.
