Lane Kiffin Reacts to Ole Miss' Sugar Bowl Win vs. UGA, 'Only Two More to Go'

Timothy RappJan 2, 2026

LSU head coach Lane Kiffin congratulated his former team and quarterback Trinidad Chambliss after Ole Miss' wild 39-34 win over Georgia in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals on New Year's Day.

Kiffin wasn't in attendance at the Sugar Bowl, instead taking in the LSU women's basketball team matchup against Kentucky.

Kiffin did earn a $500,000 bonus from LSU after Ole Miss' victory on Thursday, however, as his new school matched the bonuses he had in his contract with the Rebels.

So it was a pretty good night for Kiffin, even if one of the responses to Ole Miss' victory was some serious snark directed his way:

When you ditch a team right as its heading into the College Football Playoff—even if it was for a program of LSU's stature, one of the top jobs in the sport—you're gonna have to deal with the jokes and critiques. And now Kiffin has to prove he can take LSU to the same heights that Ole Miss is reaching without him.
