Kiffin was hired as the school's new football head coach in late November.
There were some questions whether Kiffin might attend his former school's College Football Playoff contest on Thursday, with Ole Miss taking on Georgia. But he chose to be in attendance for the No. 5 Lady Tigers instead as they took on No. 12 Kentucky.
Kiffin previously said he'd hoped to coach Ole Miss through the Playoff before taking on the LSU gig. He was understandably denied that request by Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter.
"I think both [Kiffin] and his representation knew several weeks ago that coaching in the playoffs was not going to be an option, if he was not the Ole Miss head coach," Carter said in early December.
Kiffin also suggested that his own players had advocated for him to coach them in the playoffs, though several disputed those claims.
While Kiffin's divorce at Ole Miss has clearly been acrimonious, LSU has welcomed him with open arms.
"When I got off that plane [in Baton Rouge after leaving Mississippi] and I saw the [LSU] board [of supervisors] there and I saw the leadership and I felt the power of this place," Kiffin told reporters at his introductory press conference. "Then we get in the car, and as we're driving out and there's the fans just all of them out there at the airport, and their excitement and their passion. Then the cars drive by as we're going to the office and you go by Tiger Stadium, and it's lit up. And you are like, 'I absolutely made the right decision.'"
