Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss Shock CFB Fans in Bowl Win vs. UGA After Lane Kiffin Exit
OIe Miss is on its way to the College Football Playoff semifinals.
The No. 6 Rebels, whose head coach left for LSU at the end of the regular season, upset No. 3 Georgia 39-34 on a last-second field goal.
College football fans couldn't believe Thursday's wild ending.
The game was close through the early going, but Georgia was in control heading into the second half, leading 21-12. A touchdown from the Rebels and a field goal from Georgia in the third set up a wild fourth quarter.
Ole Miss took a 27-24 lead with a touchdown and then added one with another score to take a comfortable 10-point lead. But the Bulldogs didn't go away, answering with a touchdown and a field goal to tie things up heading into the final minute.
Ole Miss had 55 seconds to get into field goal range, and it did just that thanks to a 40-yard pass from quarterback Trinidad Chambliss to De'Zhaun Stribling. That set up the 47-yard field goal from Lucas Carneiro.
The Rebels left six seconds on the clock, and Georgia's final drive could only be described as chaotic as it ended with a safety, securing the win over Ole Miss.
Many counted the Rebels out after Lane Kiffin left for LSU, but Ole Miss has only rallied around new head coach Pete Golding. The team's journey to the CFP semifinal has already been something out of a movie, but they can make it even more special with a win over No. 10 Miami to advance to the national championship.
