It's not a statue outside of Sanford Stadium, but the young Georgia Bulldogs fan who recently refused to sing "Rocky Top" during a school concert will get to watch his favorite team person during the College Football Playoff.

Fanatics gifted Nolan McGill, an elementary school student in Chattanooga, Tennessee, tickets to see the Bulldogs play Mississippi in the Sugar Bowl on Thursday.

McGill became a viral celebrity after a clip of him refusing to sing the Tennessee Volunteers' fight song because of his loyalty to Georgia during a school concert was posted online.

The situation made its way back to members of the Bulldogs, with head coach Kirby Smart joking to Chris Low of On3 Sports that the school was putting together a fundraise to build a statue of McGill near the university.

'We are currently fundraising to put a statue of him up near the stadium," Smart said. "If it doesn't cut into our NIL budget too much, we may get it up before we play Tennessee in two years."

Georgia football legend David Pollock spoke to McGill on the See Ball Get Ball podcast. The fifth-grade student explained his reasoning for not participating in that part of the performance by simply saying, "I'm never gonna sing that trash."

McGill went on to call the Vols' anthem "a horrible song."

The moment has certainly paid off for McGill, who will get to see his beloved Bulldogs in their first playoff game as they look to win their third national title in the past five seasons.

This marks the second loss for Tennessee against Georgia in 2025. The Bulldogs defeated the Volunteers 44-41 in an overtime thriller at Neyland Stadium back on Sept. 13 The SEC rivals won't play again until the 2027 season in Athens.

McGill and his family will be in New Orleans on Thursday when Georgia and Ole Miss square off in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. The Bulldogs beat the Rebels 43-35 in the regular season on Oct. 18.
