Kirby Smart Jokes UGA Will Build Statue for Young Fan Who Refused to Sing 'Rocky Top'
It has surely been a memorable week for elementary school student Nolan McGill after the young Georgia fan refused to sing "Rocky Top" during his school's concert Tuesday in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and he even earned the admiration from his favorite team's head coach.
"We are currently fundraising to put a statue of him up near the stadium," Georgia coach Kirby Smart joked to Chris Low of On 3. "If it doesn't cut into our NIL budget too much, we may get it up before we play Tennessee in two years."

McGill stood in silence and even shook his head in protest as his classmates sang the SEC rival Volunteers' fight song as part of the concert.
Low noted McGill's mother filmed the entire thing and put it on social media, and it quickly spread with millions seeing the clip.
Fortunately for McGill, he has enjoyed plenty of bragging rights over the Tennessee fans in his class.
Georgia defeated the Volunteers 44-41 in overtime this season, which marked the Bulldogs' ninth straight victory in the series. Georgia also won the SEC title and earned a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff.
As for Tennessee, it went 8-4 and ended up in the Music City Bowl in a disappointing follow-up effort to last season's CFP appearance.
Georgia and Tennessee do not play each other again until the 2027 campaign, so the Bulldogs have plenty of time to work on that statue.
