Lane Kiffin Trolled by Fans After Ole Miss' Dominant Win vs. Tulane to Advance in CFP
No. 6 seed Ole Miss cruised to a 41-10 home win over No. 11 seed Tulane in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Saturday afternoon.
This marked the Rebels' first game since head coach Lane Kiffin left the team for LSU on Nov. 30.
Ole Miss didn't miss a beat under new head coach Pete Golding, who was the defensive coordinator under Kiffin.
Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss completed 23-of-29 passes for 282 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 36 yards and two more scores. Running back Kewan Lacy rushed for 87 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries. Wide receiver Deuece Alexander led pass-catchers with seven catches for 87 yards, and fellow wideout De'Zhaun Stribling added five receptions for 79 yards and a touchdown.
Ole Miss got off to a hot start and never looked back after taking an early 14-0 lead thanks to a Lacy 20-yard TD run and Chambliss' four-yard score.
The Rebels led 17-3 at half and 27-3 after three quarters thanks in part to Stribling's 13-yard touchdown.
Rebels running back Logan Diggs and Chambliss added rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter for a 41-3 lead before Tulane scored its lone TD late when Jake Retzlaff found Justyn Reid for a 29-yarder.
In the end, Ole Miss looked great in Game 1 post-Kiffin, and fans provided their thoughts on the ex-Rebels coach during the dominant victory.
The Rebels will now advance to the CFP quarterfinals, where they will face No. 3 seed Georgia on Jan. 1 in the Sugar Bowl.
